Querencia

Querencia Private Golf & Beach Club is a 2,000-acre members-only community on the San José Corridor, built around what was Tom Fazio's first golf course design in Mexico. The name itself, a Spanish concept meaning a place where one feels deeply at home, captures the philosophy behind a development that has prioritized owner experience and privacy over scale since its founding. With tee times spaced 12 minutes apart, a members-only beach club now open on the swimmable San José coastline, and a second Fazio course currently under construction, Querencia is actively expanding one of the most carefully tended community environments in Los Cabos luxury real estate.

Lifestyle

The Tom Fazio golf course is the organizing principle of Querencia, and the community's approach to the game is genuinely distinctive. Tee times are spaced 12 minutes apart, giving rounds an unhurried, private pace that resort and semi-private courses cannot replicate. The front nine plays along the Sea of Cortez with ocean views from every hole, while the back nine turns inland through arroyo terrain and native desert. Among the signature holes is the par-5 fourth, a boomerang-shaped hole that swings around a deep arroyo to an infinity-edge green suspended above the sea. The course hosted a Shell's Wonderful World of Golf match in 2001 and remains one of only two fully private clubs in Los Cabos open exclusively to members and their guests. A second 18-hole Fazio course is currently under construction with a planned debut in 2026, a development that will significantly expand the golf infrastructure and elevate the community's already strong standing among golf-focused buyers in Baja California Sur.

Access & Setting

Querencia sits at kilometer 27.5 of the Transpeninsular Highway (Mex-1), on the San José Corridor between Palmilla and Costa Azul. The community's 2,000 acres extend from coastal beachfront across rolling desert hills, giving different neighborhoods dramatically different settings within the same development. The beach club fronts a swimmable stretch of the San José coastline, while the golf course and inland neighborhoods occupy the elevated desert terrain above. San José del Cabo is approximately 15 minutes by car, and Los Cabos International Airport is roughly 20 to 25 minutes away. The community is fully gated with 24-hour security. The Corridor commercial zone, with restaurants, services, and the Shoppes at Palmilla, is within a short drive. The combination of coastal access, elevated terrain, and San José proximity gives Querencia a geographic range unusual among communities of this size on the Corridor.

Amenities & Buyer Fit

Querencia's amenity program is organized across three hubs. The 58,000 sq ft Clubhouse anchors the golf and social infrastructure with an infinity pool, full-service spa, fitness center, yoga pavilion, tennis, pickleball, and seven on-site restaurants. The Q Beach Club, now open, provides beachfront dining, cabanas, a swimmable beach, surfing, and paddleboarding on the San José coastline. The Canyon Club is the community's family hub: Phase 1, open since winter 2024, includes a skate park, pump track, soccer field, basketball and beach volleyball courts; Phase 2 adds an indoor activities center, family pool, trampoline park, climbing wall, and an open-air cinema. Residential product trades primarily through the community's own sales program rather than the broader MLS. Product types span custom estate homesites, single-family homes across several named neighborhoods, and condominiums. The community appeals to buyers who value genuine privacy, a members-first club culture, and the rare combination of Fazio golf and direct beach access within a single Corridor address. A second Fazio course, expected in 2026, strengthens the long-term ownership case.
